Bekay is no stranger to the rap game and homeboy came thru to the venue fully equipped with his own security. It’s quite clear who the heavyweight in this line up was last night, but not just by his confidence and presence off stage. This was actually my first time seeing him perform and there’s really no argument that he stole the show. Bekay is a real performer. His lyrics are hard and he definitely has the stage presence and passion that separates him from the rest. When he arrives on stage you know this is someone and he’s moving right on up. It’s been quite a journey for this emcee from his 2003 record debut with Hungry, Broke & Determined and if you ask me, his rise to the very top is long overdue. His “hunger” has now developed into a “hunger pain” and with the much anticipated album Hunger Pains being released in just a few more weeks (Nov 10th) I know that anyone in the industry that knows anything about Hip Hop will take very serious notice to this emcee. He’s collaborated with producers DJ Babu, Shuko, and The Alchemist to name a few, and I’d like to believe that this is the work that’s going to finally get him the real recognition he deserves.

I got the chance to have a few words with Bekay outside the venue last night after his performance. We got some great footage of all the performances and an exclusive interview with Bekay and a very special freestyle to end things off which you are sure to appreciate.
